about the author

Simon Jones

For thirteen years, Simon travelled the world in service with the British Army, facing the chaos of conflict in Iraq during the first Gulf War and other volatile regions. His military career left him with experiences and scars few can imagine. Today, he works as a truck driver, yet his heart remains firmly with fellow veterans.

As a trustee of Tommy’s Voice, a charity dedicated to supporting veterans, Simon advocates tirelessly for those who served, offering understanding and a voice to men and women navigating life after military service. The anchor throughout his journey has been his wife, Liz, whom he married in 1990.

In Repercussions, The Long Shadow of Conflict, Simon expresses the deepest emotions forged in the father–son relationship. The book is a tribute to the love, duty, and gratitude shared across generations. Readers witness how a father takes decisive action to bring home a son ambushed in war.

When footage emerges of a soldier’s execution, the father is forced to confront his responsibility and rely on faith, courage, and instinct. He steps forward with resolve, driven by love and strengthened by the values instilled through years of service.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but the refusal to be ruled by it. Simon’s story reflects that truth. His return to face danger, his encounters with fear-stricken hostages, and his unbroken commitment illustrate what bravery truly means.

This is a powerful exploration of love, heartbreak, faith, and the unbreakable bond between a father and his son.
